Cazenove won the design competition
to create a new Children's Centre at Becontree Primary School in
Dagenham, East London. The brief is to develop and extend a 1920's
school to create an important local landmark whilst respecting the
spirit of the town planning that created the inter war Becontree
Estate.
Cazenove's proposals won the competition because of their holistic
approach; they both extended and contributed to the existing school,
creating a new entrance and identity and forming a distinctive new
centre for the community.
