Cazenove won the design competition
to create a new Children's Centre at Becontree Primary School in
Dagenham, East London, to develop and extend a 1920's
school. This has created an important local landmark whilst respecting the
spirit of the town planning that created the inter-war Becontree
Estate.
Cazenove's proposals won the competition because of Cazenove's holistic
approach; the new extensions and reorganisations both extend and contribute to the existing school,
creating a new entrance and identity and forming a distinctive new
centre for the community.
